Install the player. Paste an M3U you already pay for, or a YouTube link, or files on your disk. Pro adds a bucket. Free, or $7/month. You keep the files.

A player you download
Plex and Jellyfin are media servers. You install them, point them at a folder, and wait for a library scan. Deimos is the app for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Paste a playlist you already pay for, paste a YouTube link, or play files you already have. Pro is $7/month.

Where each one fits
Plex
Install a server, then the apps. It scans a folder. A playlist is a plugin or another app. The server is free. Plex Pass is separate. You keep the files.
Jellyfin
Install a server, then the apps. It scans a folder. A playlist is a plugin or another app. The software is free. You keep the files, and you administer the server.
What $7 changes
The free download already plays one playlist of 250 channels and any YouTube link, with a watermark. Pro takes the watermark off, opens every playlist up to 2,000 items, and can use a bucket you already run: Storj, Filebase, Wasabi, Backblaze B2, Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, or MinIO. Cancel any time in PayPal. The key is on the thanks page.
What Deimos does not do
Deimos does not sell a movie catalog or a channel package. You bring the videos and the playlist. Pirate playlist dumps are refused. There is no phone app store listing yet: the player is Windows, Mac, Linux, and the Linux web app when you want a private portal for your own viewers.
Jellyfin costs nothing and is the right choice when you want a free server and you are happy to administer it. Plex is the right choice when you want its apps and its library scanner. Deimos is the right choice when you want to paste a list and watch.
